Application Tip: Using Application Tape with Vinyl

Having troubles with application tape not picking up your vinyl?  Here are a few handy tips:

Did you pick the right tape?

Regional Supply stocks both medium tack and high tack application tapes. High tack is recommended for picking up letters under 2”. Medium tack application tape works well for letters over 2” tall. Low tack application tape is also available and works well with digitally printed graphics that are very large. Oracal 631 Vinyl also works better with a high tack application tape.

Check the pressure of your blade on your plotter

If you are cutting past your vinyl and into the liner it is much harder to pull the vinyl back up off the linear.

Pull the linear of the vinyl

If you have the right Application tape and your plotter pressure is correct and you are still having troubles try turning your graphic over and pulling the linear off your tape vinyl at a 90 degree angle.

Etched Glass Vinyl’s

Etched Glass Vinyl’s are the hardest to work with.  A high or super high tack tape works the best along with pulling the linear off first instead of trying to pull your transfer tape up with the vinyl.
