Make your alphabetic characters sizzle

2014 Chinese Year of HorseProfessional sign makers are always on the lookout for cool, creative effects that leave passersby scratching their heads in wonderment.

Here’s a creative tip for sign crafters: It’s a technique you may not have previously used, but it can make your signage really pop.

Did you know a font list has amazing potential for artistically embellishing signage?

Consider recreational-vehicle signage, for example. When you deconstruct the font lettering by adding or deleting nodes, it opens up a whole new level of creativity. Have some fun with a fresh approach as you play around with your ABCs. Take a scripted font and rotate it 90 degrees. This puts a new perspective on things, doesn’t it? You’ll find new creative inspiration by shifting the orientation of individual signage elements. Try it and see where it takes you.

Or, consider this idea: Chop off bits of calligraphy and use them in a creative fashion as decorative elements that make a sign pop. Give your imagination free reign as you use those truncated bits of lettering to embellish your project. Picture swirls that underscore your signage graphics, as you turn those lettered elements into eye-catching graphics. Your clientele will be intrigued by the new spin you put on those recreational vehicles. It’s a fantastic application idea for vehicle graphics.

At Regional Supply, we applaud the creative and amazing talents of sign makers, who take immense pride in their work and continue to come up with cool tips for making their customers’ signage pop!
